Hope in the Old Testement

Christians have been turning to the Scriptures for inspiration and hope since the time of Jesus.  These inspirational and encouraging verses of hope will uplift your soul and give you hope in life and hope in God as you meditate on the powerful truth that is in the Word of God.  This list of Bible verses for Hope is in the Old Testament. You may notice that there are not a lot of Bible scriptures from the Gospels. That is not because the Gospels lack hope, but because the hope in the Gospels is the larger narrative of Jesus Christ, His life, death, and resurrection!

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.  Lamentations 3:25-26

Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love. Jonah 2:8

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.  He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8

The Lord roars from Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth quake. But the Lord is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the people of Israel. Joel 3:16

…but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
